If you are feeling stressed out, or overwhelmed, you probably needs some time off. Live this days tends to be crazy. Among all the responsibilities that we carry, it should be important for parents to take time off together and alone to reconnect again. In this post we are talking about How traveling alone with your partner makes you a better parent.

Ready? Let’s begin.

ow spending time with your significant other, makes you a better parent

For the sake of your marriage, your kids and your own delight and sanity, you have to make time for yourself and time with your spouse. It might not be easy. But you need to work at it. And there’s no shame in scheduling time off.

Figuring out how much time you need to feel balanced, refreshed and reconnected is a most on today’s society.

The work, the chores, the house, taking and picking up your children from school every day, bills to pay, and many others responsibilities are factors that influence stress daily on our lives. As time passes, you soon will find out that your children begin to have autonomy and you and your partner will be living together as roommates due to the lack of connection and love.

So here I want to list the 3 most important reasons to go on a trip with your partner that will benefit your relationship, and your children all at the same time.

How traveling alone with your partner makes you a better parent.

1. Travel or having alone time will Lower your stress levels, therefore you will be a better parent.

When you take time for yourself, blood pressure is lowered, we smile more, sleep better and have a more positive outlook. All of these factors combine to help us be more positive in the rest of our lives at work, at home, and with those we love.

2. Strengthen your family.

Many parents avoid their own hobbies or taking time for themselves because they believe that there is no time. Help your family value you more by valuing yourself. Your children will learn to show you respect when you show yourself that same respect. By pursuing an interest, hobby or activity that brings you pleasure and joy. My absolute favorite hobby is traveling and visiting different countries, yours can be something else, it doesn’t matter. The point here is, make time to do the things that bring you joy and makes you happy.

3. Raise your kids to be adults who take care of themselves.

Our children will repeat our patterns. To create a healthy pattern in your home, where adults value their own passions and make a little time for those interests. Remember you want your kids to grow up and value themselves and their abilities, right? They will learn from you, by example!

When you take time for yourself, you’re being a GREAT parent, you are teaching your children to grow up and find a balance between caring for others and caring for themselves!

There are also long-term benefits for a child when parents take some time away. Besides your kids develop the ability to be perfectly fine and independent without you around. Also Kids look to their parents as role models, and that includes proper adult behavior and parenting. When kids grow up and become parents, they’ll recollect how you behaved. If you were calm and collected because you kept your life in proper balance, and you were affectionate, respectful and deeply connected to your spouse, they’ll remember that example and follow it.

And remember that wanting time to yourself and time alone with your spouse doesn’t make you a selfish parent!!! Actually, that isn’t the case at all. In fact, regularly spending some time alone and with your spouse away from the kids allows you to have a stronger marriage, a stronger family and even well-adjusted children.

To have a small getaway with your significant other you don’t need to break the bank. I use different sources to be able to travel in a budget. Over the years and after many trips I am going to share with you my favorite tips to do that. Remember my hobby is travel, but you can use your free downtime in any way that you prefer.

How to book your next trip on a budget.

  1. Plan ahead accordingly to your budget which place you desired to go, stay away from pick season, on down seasons you will find better prices.
  2. For Airplane tickets my favorite apps are Sky scanner and Expedia, Here is a small tip for you: Check for tickets on different days and/or hours throughout the day, that way you will find better deals.
  3. On Expedia, you can also book a combo of fly and hotel, but sometimes you don’t find the best deals this way, sometimes is better to get the airplane tickets and the hotel on different apps.
  4. My favorite apps for accommodations/hotels are Priceline, hotels.com, Expedia, Trivago, and booking.com, before I do any reservation I check all apps for the better deals.
  5. And lastly but certainly not least is transport and tours, my favorite app is Viator, I also plan ahead of time tours and buy tickets before getting there, that way I can plan my trip in a more efficient way, spending less time in lines.
