Bringing a baby or child into your life can be an exciting but sometimes also overwhelming as well. It starts with getting prepared, financially and emotionally. I am here to help you through your journey. In this post you’ll find important advise for new parents. To get you started, here are some basic tips to help you think about your role as new parents and remember the key is to plan in advance.

Important Advise for New Parents. How to get prepared for a new baby.

1. Find your baby’s doctor before you go into labor.

Selecting your baby’s doctor before delivery allows you to make a well-informed decision, which is important because you will be visiting this doctor six times in the first year. In addition, he or she will usually be onsite as your baby is born to do a checkup and perform optional procedures, such as circumcision, etc.

2. Choose or plan in advance for your child’s health care plan.

Have a health care plan for your child is most. There will always be immunization and vaccination milestones which he will need from newborn to adolescence. Also, you may want to start considering private health insurance vs including your child in a family plan.

3. Make a budget and track spending.

Make a realistic budget that reflects your new lifestyle and track your spending. If your housing and other costs have increased due to your growing family size, make a new monthly budget that reflects those added expenses.

3. Start a savings account for your child.

The best way to teach a child about money is by example. If you start a bank account for your child when they are a baby, you can use it to show them how money can grow and teach them the value of saving over time.

4. Shop for life insurance and do your required planning.

Becoming a parent prompts many people to buy life insurance for the first time, anticipate for college and other expenses ahead of time will make your life easier later on, also having the peace of mind that if one of the parents isn’t here more the other parent will be able to raise the child without hardships.

5. Don’t wait until the last minute to buy all the necessities for your baby.

Start with enough time to get all the things you need for you and your baby, think that you and your partner are going to be exhausted for the first few months as new parents, include products that you enjoy for your own free time, and the must-haves for your baby, products such as car seat, stroller, high chair, bed sheets and crib etc..

6. Check in your area for any hospitals or institutions that offer support.

Meeting other mommies can help you feel more confident and relax about being a new parent, also some hospitals offer classes for new parents to learn how to take care of your baby when you get home.

Side note: Based on my own personal experience, I didn’t know how to clean my first boy private parts ( not circumcise) in the beginning, so take my advice on this!!!

7. Balance guidance and freedom.

Look for a balance between guiding your child and allowing them to discover their own path. Sometimes it’s better to be aware of your child’s own individual development pace than to be anxious that he hasn’t begun crawling at 12 months, every child is unique and all children develop at different times.

8. Learn from your child.

Being a parent is not always about what you can teach your child, but also about what your child can teach you. Some parents say that the most precious thing about parenthood is how much they constantly discover about themselves through their children.

9. Balance time with your partner.

Maintaining a relationship while trying to adapt to having a newborn at home will seem like a struggle at first. Yet, trying to create a balance between the two will benefit the three of you tremendously. Especially on days when you’re too exhausted to spend time with your partner and need some time out for yourself.

10. Trust your intuition.

Despite the fact that this is your first time raising a child, you’ll soon discover that lots of aspects of parenting/motherhood will come instinctively to you if you listen to your heart, you were born to do this!!!
